The short drive allows you to appreciate the fact that Dominica truly is a Nature paradise, with lush vegetation, untouched rainforests, 365 rivers, magnificent views, countless colourful flowers and an amazing sunset. It is a “dream of another reality” as Ms Norunn Persson, Hibiscus Valley Inn’s founder once said.

Our friendly staff will greet you when you arrive at the guesthouse.

Waterfall Roundtrip & Carib Territory

The adventures begin with a relatively easy combination of hikes and nature experiences. Our first stop will be at the Twin Falls, Hibiscus Valley Inn’s own waterfall. In order to get there we first have to walk through a Dominican farm and then take an easy fifteens minutes walk through the rainforest. The first waterfall is 25 meters high with a mysterious cave in direct connection to it. Those who wish can take a swim in the pool while the more adventurous climbs a small mountain ridge in order to get to the second, 20-meter high white sulphur waterfall which has been collared by the volcanic activities of the island.

After Twin Falls we continue to the Morne Trois Piton National park, which is a Unesco World Heritage site. Here we will visit Emerald pool; the Crown jewel in Dominica’s tourism marketing.

The tour continues north, towards the Carib Reserve. Here an experienced Carib Indian tour guide will guide you. He will give you a unique insight into the traditions, culture and history of his people, which is the last indigenous population in the Caribbean. - Kalinago Barana Aute entrance fee 10 US$/ person

We finish the day by taking a drive up the Horseback ridge, which gives a magnificent view of Dominica’s valleys and mountains. From here we will be able to see Hibiscus Valley Inn as a small dot next to the Pagua River.

Northen Trip with Indian River and Parrots

This tour starts with a scenic ride up the Indian River, which is situated in the island’s original capital, Portsmouth. You will travel on small wooden boats up the River, through a Mangrove swamp that in many ways resembles a ride along the Amazon River. The most striking difference is probably that there are no dangerous animals or fishes to look out for on Dominica. After the 35 minutes long boat ride we make a Rum Punch stop at a local bar next to the river. Boat ride 13 US$/ person

After visiting the falls time is getting close to five o’clock in the afternoon and it is perfect for spotting the endangered Dominican parrots, the Sisserou and the Jaco. We will look for these amazing birds when we take a walk along the Syndicate Nature Trail, known as a birdwatchers paradise. The Sisserou parrot is the world’s largest Amazon parrot and it only lives on Dominica.

Wendsday Batibou Bay Beach

After all, we are in the Caribbean so we cannot miss out relaxing on a tranquil beach. On Batibou Bay, you will definitely not be bothered by any crowds of tourist. In fact, it is highly likely that we will be the only one on this 400-meter long sand beach.

  Boiling Lake , 60US$

We get up early this morning, a head of us waits the 3 hours long hike to the Boiling Lake – the World’s largest boiling volcanic lake.

The strenuous hike takes 3 hours one way and offers a true “once in a lifetime experience”. We will walk through lush rainforest, up and along a mountain ridge from where you will spot Roseau in the foreground, hike down through the Valley of Desolation and towards the lake where you actually can boil eggs! A must on the hike is to take a swim in the hot, sulphur springs that are situated along the way. You can also take a swim in the the Titoe Gorge which is a cave with waterfalls.

River tubing & Rasta Man Hike

After breakfast we grab our tubes and get into the waters of the Pagua River, which floats along Hibiscus Valley Inn. There is no better way to enjoy our Nature Island than to be floating along the river on a tube. The fun-filled ride is just as beautiful as it is relaxing. This is perfect for all ages and physical conditions!

After the River Tubing we go back to Hibiscus Valley Inn for some lunch and recreation. e now set of for a hike in the rainforest, lead by a local Rasta guide. Our highly knowledgeable guide will take you right into the untouched rainforest where he will tell you about the many different medical and practical uses of the plants in the rainforest

Southern Whale/Dolphin watch and Snorkel Trip, 100US$ ( only on wednesdays and sundays)

Today we head south. First we will go to Scotts head, Dominica’s southern tip. From here you will get a magnificent view of the narrow piece of land that separates the calm waters of the Caribbean Sea from the powerful waves of the Atlantic Ocean. On a clear day you will see the French islands of Guadeloupe in the North and Martinique in the South.

Dominica is known to be one of the best diving waters in the world! One of the most well known underwater phenomena is easily accessible by snorkel. Only ten meters of the coast you will find a remnant of Dominica’s volcanic past: the Champagne Reef. As the name tells, snorkelling in here is like being dropped into a glass of sparkling champagne! Not to mention all of the beautiful fishes and reefs you will find.

Site pass to snorkeling ( bring your own snorkel equipment). Site pass 10US$

After the snorkelling we head out for whale watching. In the waters outside of Dominica there are twelve different Marine mammals.

Children under 10 years old , 30% off

“Dominica has become a preferred destination for the sighting of the deep living Sperm Whales. The protected lee of the island is ideal for their mating and calving activities. In addition to the Sperm Whales, regular sightings of Pilot Whales and mixed pods of spotted and Spinner Dolphins can be expected.

Look out for the exclusive little Pygmy Sperm, False Killer Whales, Atlantic Bottlenose and many other species. Fish, seabirds, and a magnificent view of the island’s rugged beauty.

These trips are an excellent way to spend an afternoon.”
